Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas to visit China to woo investors

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas will be visiting China from July 18 to 20 scouting for investments in the health care sector in Andhra Pradesh.

His focus will be on getting Chinese companies to set up their units in the medical technology (Meditech) manufacturing park at Visakhapatnam.

Mr. Srinivas’ tour comes just over two weeks after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu showcased investment opportunities in A.P. during his five-day trip to China late last month.

Mr. Srinivas will visit a medical technology park at Shanghai and other allied industrial units in the Chinese city.

He will be accompanied by Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah and A.P. Government Advisor on Health and Medical Technology Jitendar Sharma.

It may be recalled that the A.P. government has resolved to form a special purpose vehicle for establishment of the Meditech Park and the Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) has come forward to help it in realising its vision.

Nearly 250 acres of land has already been identified near the port city for setting up the Meditech Park.

A good number of Chinese companies have evinced interest to make investments in diverse sectors, including in the construction of A.P.’s capital city Amaravati.

A.P. has forged sister-state relations with a couple of Chinese states including the Guizhow Province.

The Guizhou International Investment Corporation is actively involved in the design and development of infrastructure in Amaravati and Vijayawada city.

The new international airport at Bhogapuram will be developed by the State Government under the PPP (public-private partnership) mode at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,200 crore to cater to 6.3 million passengers per annum in the initial phase.

The other two airports in Andhra Pradesh will be developed as domestic no-frills airports with an estimated cost of Rs. 88 crore each.

Dagadarthi will be developed under the PPP mode whereas the project at Orvakallu will be developed by the State Government itself.
